GLP1 Weight Loss publishes information about doctor-led weight-loss care in South Africa. Our aim is simple. We want what you read here to be accurate, clear and useful when you are deciding whether this class of treatment is right for you. This page explains how we research, write and check our content, and how to tell us if we get something wrong.
Accuracy and sourcing
We build our content from primary sources first. That means guidance from regulators such as SAHPRA, published clinical trials, and the official information supplied by medicine manufacturers. Where a claim rests on a trial, we describe the finding in plain terms rather than dressing it up.
Trial results are ranges, not promises. Across studies, average weight loss with GLP-1 medication runs from roughly 8% to over 20% of body weight, depending on the specific medicine and dose. Individual results vary, and we say so wherever numbers appear. We do not invent statistics, and we do not present a best-case figure as a typical one.
Clinical review
Content that touches on health, safety, eligibility or how a treatment works is reviewed by HPCSA-registered doctors before we publish it. Their job is to check that what we describe reflects current evidence and safe practice. Reviewers may ask us to add caveats, soften wording or remove a section entirely.
Balance and independence
We show the whole picture. When we describe a benefit, we set it beside the possible risks, the side effects and the cost. We do not guarantee outcomes, and we avoid language that suggests a certain result.
We do not run testimonials that make product claims, and we do not let commercial interest shape a clinical judgement. Any partner or advertising relationship is kept separate from the medical content on this site.
Prices and figures
Prices shown in Rand are indicative. Costs for medication, consultations and medical aid cover change over time and differ between providers, so we review our figures regularly and update them. Always confirm the current price and your own medical aid position before you commit to anything.
Use of AI
We sometimes use AI tools to help draft or organise text. This does not change who is accountable. A human editor is responsible for every published page, and a registered doctor reviews all clinical content regardless of how the first draft was produced. AI never has the final word on medical information.
Corrections
If you spot an error, tell us and we will look into it. Email hello@glp1weightloss.co.za. When we correct something meaningful, we update the page rather than quietly leaving the old version in place.
A note on medical advice
Everything on this site is general information and is not medical advice. It cannot account for your history, your medication or your circumstances. A registered doctor decides what suits an individual, including whether GLP-1 medication is appropriate and, if so, which option and dose. Treatment is not suitable for everyone, and eligibility depends on factors a doctor assesses with you.
