This notice explains how GLP1 Weight Loss handles your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). We keep what we collect to a minimum, we use it only for the reasons set out below, and we do not sell it. If anything here is unclear, please email hello@glp1weightloss.co.za and we will help.
Who we are
GLP1 Weight Loss is the responsible party for the information described here. Our registered company details and physical address are available on request. You can reach us about any privacy matter at hello@glp1weightloss.co.za.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to run the site and respond to you.
- Privacy-respecting analytics. We use aggregated, low-detail measurements to understand which pages are read and how the site performs. This is not used to profile you.
- Contact and eligibility form details. If you fill in a form, we collect the details you choose to give, such as your name, contact details and the health information relevant to a screening question. We use this only to reply to you or to carry out a basic eligibility assessment.
- On-site calculators. The BMI and health calculators run entirely in your browser. The figures you enter stay on your device and are not sent to us.
Cookies
We keep cookies to a minimum and avoid anything we do not need. Where cookies are used, you can block or delete them in your browser settings, and the site will still work for its main purpose.
Your POPIA rights
You have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and request access to it,
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date,
- ask us to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep, and
- object to a particular use of your information.
To use any of these rights, email hello@glp1weightloss.co.za. We may need to confirm your identity before we act, so that we do not share your details with the wrong person.
Complaints
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa. We would prefer the chance to put things right first, so please tell us before you escalate.
How long we keep information
We hold personal information only for as long as we have a clear reason to, such as answering your query or meeting a legal duty. After that we delete it or make it anonymous.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No system is perfect, so we cannot promise absolute security, but we work to keep risks low.
Third parties
Some trusted providers help us run the service, including our website hosting and analytics providers, and the registered clinic that a treatment enquiry is handed to. Each of these has its own terms and privacy practices, and the clinic becomes responsible for the clinical information you share with it once your care moves across.
A note on scope
This page is general information about privacy and is not medical advice. Whether GLP-1 medication is suitable for a particular person is a decision made by a registered doctor after proper assessment. Results vary from person to person.
