Medical Review

Who reviews our clinical pages, what that review checks, and where its limits sit.

Every page on this site that touches on health, treatment or eligibility passes through clinical review before it goes live. This page explains who does that review, what it checks, and where the limits of that review sit.

Who reviews our clinical pages

Treatment decisions on our programme are made by doctors registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). The same clinical input shapes the information you read here. When a page describes how this class of treatment works, who may qualify, or what to expect from a weekly or daily injection, a registered doctor has checked that the wording matches current clinical understanding and South African practice.

We do not name an individual reviewer on public pages, and we do not publish registration numbers here. If you become our patient, the doctor responsible for your care is identified to you directly during your consultation.

What our review checks

  • Accuracy against current registration status. Whether a GLP-1 medication is registered with the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) for weight management, and whether that status has changed.
  • Evidence and manufacturer information. That statements about how treatment works and what results are typical reflect published trial data and the information supplied by manufacturers.
  • Balanced risk presentation. That benefits are not overstated, and that common side effects, cautions, and the people for whom this treatment is not suitable are described plainly.

Results differ from one person to the next. Trial averages for this class of treatment range from roughly 8% to over 20% of body weight, depending on the specific medicine and the dose, and your own outcome may sit anywhere around that.

What this review is not

Clinical review keeps our general information sound. It is not a stand-in for a consultation.

Reading a reviewed page does not diagnose you, does not confirm that any treatment suits you, and is not a recommendation of a specific medicine. General information cannot account for your history, the medicines you already take, or your goals. A registered doctor weighs those details and decides what, if anything, is appropriate for you.

This page and the rest of the site offer general information only and are not medical advice. A registered doctor decides what suits an individual.

Keeping information current

Registration status, evidence and safety guidance change over time. We review clinical pages on a regular schedule, and again when something material shifts, such as a new safety update or a change in what a medicine is registered to treat. If you notice something that reads as out of date, please tell us so we can check it.
